This is my senior thesis project, a study of how technology has affected letterforms and the development of typography over time. I did extensive research into 4 main areas: the development and evolution of the alphabet, Gutenberg and the invention of printing, the industrial revolution, and the digital revolution. I really wanted to examine the quirks of design styles and letterforms in a historical context, so each topic also contains a timeline, giving context to the subject matter of the spread.
